From Main Airports and Railway Stations

Aberdeen is nearest airport and railway station. Perth provides a convenient railway station for Braemar and, possibly, Ballater

Edinburgh : Cross Forth Road Bridge, take A9 to Perth

Glasgow : take A8 to Stirling then Perth

Aberdeen : Banchory, Aboyne, Ballater and Braemar are roughly, 20, 30, 40 and 60 miles respectively west of Aberdeen on the A93. (The airport is on the northern outskirts of Aberdeen. )

Dundee : take the A923 to Coupar Angus then Blairgowrie joining the A93

Inverness : Take the A9 towards Aviemore, A938 to Grantown-on-Spey, A939 to Ballater and the A93 to destination.

From Perth : Braemar is 50 miles North on the A93 via Blairgowrie.

Note the routes given above are 'tourist' routes. For the eastern end of the valley it is usually quicker to take the A90 (from the south) or A92 (from the north) as if going to Aberdeen. Leave these roads at the desired point.

Bus : Information on tickets and timetables are available from the Stagecoach Bluebird Travel Shop in Aberdeen.

Although Aberdeen has the closest airport, if you are going to the Braemar area then Edinburgh offers a reasonable alternative. Similarly Perth station is an alternative to Aberdeen. In winter, however, the A93 Perth-Braemar road is occasionally snow-bound.
