Royal Deeside : Education and Libraries

Schools in Royal Deeside are divided into two catchment areas based around Banchory and Aboyne. In both burghs there is a substantial senior school (Aboyne Academy & Banchory Academy)associated with a Community Education Centre. Many of the villages have a primary school.

Primary education is for children 4 to 12 years old.
Secondary education is for 12 years old to 16 or 18 years old.

Pre-school is available for 3 to 5 years old while some nurseries accommodate younger children for day care.

Adult Education is available within the Community Education Centres with a few courses given at other centres.

There are public libraries offering many facilities in Aboyne, Ballater and Banchory and a mobile library visits most villages.
