Given below are brief directions for getting to Royal Deeside. The A93 runs north from Perth until it reaches Braemar then turns east through Royal Deeside until it reaches Aberdeen. The A93 is essentially a tourist road. Coming north it climbs steadily through Glen Shee until it reaches a high point at Cairnwell at which point it enters the Cairngorms National Park. Although Aberdeen has the closest airport, if you are going to the Braemar area then Edinburgh offers a reasonable alternative. Similarly Perth station is an alternative to Aberdeen. In winter, however, the A93 Perth-Braemar road is occasionally snow-bound. |
