Some of the projects that MDL carried out include:

Set up a Deeside Community Transport Scheme with the Village Hopper bus service and Minibus hire
Purchased the Bell Wood as a Community Woodland and leased the Ladywood
Organised an annual outdoor festival – Active Aboyne
Supported the Aboyne Youth Project to develop facilities for young people
Helped the Aboyne Bonfire Co-operative revive the village fireworks display

A Community Bus operated by Mid Deeside Ltd

Deeside Community Transport Group

Deeside Community Transport Group are fundraising to replace one of their minibuses. They manage the Deeside Village Hopper and Minibus hire service catering for over 4,800 Hopper passengers and 2,700 Minibus passengers per year. The minibuses are used by non-profit Community Groups within the Upper Deeside and Donside areas for group activities and social outings.

The buses can be adapted for wheelchair users and our drivers are mainly volunteers. The Hopper service is open to all members of the public, stops on demand, will divert up to half a mile off the route by prior arrangement, and accepts the Scotland Wide Free Bus concession cards. It provides a vital lifeline for people who have difficulty in getting to essential services and community facilities such as shops, Health Centre and Community Centre, or who use it to visit friends and relatives in the scattered villages.

Community Woodland

Given below is an appeal to local residents from Irvine Ross, Forest Consultant to Mid Deeside Ltd

Dear All,

As you are aware, Mid Deeside Ltd are in the process of preparing a Forest Plan for the Bell Wood and the Lady Wood which will set out the objectives and prescriptions for the management of these woods for the next 20 years. As part of that process two scoping meetings were held on

25-26 June and 2 July 2010. MDL would like to thank everyone who contributed to that process.THis process gave rise to a Scoping Report which attempts

(a) to summarise all the responses which were received and
(b) to identify the key issues that were raised in the scoping process.
