The Cairngorms National Park is the newest in Scotland and the largest in Britain. It is sparsely populated and the communities are generally small and widely separated. The Association of Cairngorms Communities aims to give voice to these communities. This expanding organisation draws its membership from communities within and bordering the Cairngorms National Park. Formerly the Association of Cairngorms Community Councils, it has now opened its doors to other community groups and aims to widen its membership to express and represent the views of all in the wider National Park area.
The Association offers a forum not only for communities of geography, such as Community Councils, but also for communities of interest and of identity.
